Intermezzo on Brewster Flats, oil on wood, 36" x 48"

Intermezzo on Brewster Flats

This oil painting on a 48" x 36" wood panel is set against the quiet backdrop of Cape Cod's coastal bay flats. A woman, enigmatic and graceful, reclines on a golden bench that appears to have been swept ashore by the tide. Her attire, a diaphanous pink tutu, blurs the line between reality and her dreams. A child does a handstand on the beach. In the sky above, two pelicans glide through a vibrant spectrum of salmon, pink, and blue hues. The sand, dotted with footprints, nudges towards hidden stories, while gaily striped tents in the distance lend a surreal undertone to the composition. This painting blends elements of portraiture and nature into a narrative that highlights both the familiar and the dreamlike, inviting viewers to step into a moment of reflection and otherworldly beauty.

Under the Watchful Sky

An oil painting on wood 24 inches square, Under the Watchful Sky captures a serene moment suspended between night and dawn, where the boundary between the seen and the unseen gently blurs. It is both a portrait and a landscape, a pause in time that opens pathways toward connection, presence, and the expansive unknown.

This painting is the fifth in a series featuring women, birds, and the pink full moon. It invites you to linger with the watcher, to feel that shared moment of stillness beneath the vast, watchful sky—where time stretches, and quiet questions emerge.

The Future Is Now

The Future Is Now

This 48" x 36" oil painting on wood blends realism with layers of surrealism, emphasizing how light shapes the landscape, the sky, and the figures themselves. I loved painting the figures in this piece, and I wanted to examine the interplay between light, shadow, and the vivid colors that often compose our dreams.

But at its heart, The Future Is Now emerged from reflections on transition and what it means to look forward while remaining rooted in the present. The two women represent different ways of facing the unknown—one standing calmly, poised in her delicate tutu, the other shielding her gaze, actively searching.

In these challenging times, The Future Is Now is a visual testament to the magnetic pull of what lies ahead, urging us to pause and reflect upon the ever-unfolding horizon.

NEW PAINTINGS

Fly Me To The Moon, oil on wood, 48" x 72"

Fly Me to the Moon

Fly Me to the Moon, 72" x 48", invites us into an alternate world. In this large painting, two young women gaze out over a lush green meadow with my shape-shifting striped tents and purple-hazed mountains on the horizon. Their costumes, brilliant red, patterned and textured, add to the surrealism of the scene.

The sky itself is a spectacle—bright, expansive, and dotted with graceful, flying swans. What dominates the celestial canvas is a large, deep pink moon, imbuing the scene with an otherworldly presence.

Fly Me to the Moon is an invitation to traverse an in-between place—a realm where the mundane meets the magical, and where every element tells part of a larger, enigmatic story. It challenges viewers to reflect, to contemplate, and to question what they think they know about the world.

A Day of Perfect Clarity, oil on wood. 24" x 12"

A Day of Perfect Clarity

In A Day of Perfect Clarity, a young woman is seated on a stone wall. Her posture and expression convey a sense of contemplation and quiet wonder. She gazes outward, seemingly at the vast world that lies beyond her immediate surroundings. The sky is alive with color and movement, dominated by a striking pink full moon that bathes the scene in a gentle, otherworldly light. Gulls soar across the backdrop, adding a dynamic element to the otherwise calm setting. The juxtaposition of the vivid sky and the stoic figure of the woman invites you to consider the interplay between stillness and motion.

12" x 24", oil painting on wood panel. $4,200.

The setting is still Costa Rica, loosely based on a photo I took while sailing into the sunset. The exotic birds are flamingos. (How often do you see a flamingo fly? Usually they seem to spend their time wading.) The harlequin costume is almost as flamboyant as the sunset and the flamingos. 16" square.  $4,000.

I watched a little girl in a sundress race across an expanse of lawn by the sea, and I knew I had to paint her. The inclusion of the striped, peaked tents is a continuation of the theme of a long series of paintings. The title of Life is a Carnival is from a song by The Band. SOLD

Fledgling features majestic Painted Storks. Storks are avatars of good fortune and abundance in mythology and culture. Although a bit clumsy on land, these huge birds glide in flight, soaring effortlessly through the air. It is twilight in Costa Rica, the sky is turning a deep teal, and just a few stars have emerged. $4,000.

Guanacaste is the title of this painting, an area of Costa Rica that contains coastlines, waterfalls, volcanic pools, and those small islands that captivated my imagination. The ring-necked magpies came to visit every day, landing next to us to talk and ask for food. They are quite large birds, and very striking in appearance. This is a 16" square oil painting on a cradled wood panel. $4,000.

Sky Blue Pink, oil painting, 24" x 24"
Pink moon, swans, everything is in movement.

Sky Blue Pink

When I was a child, I lived near the coast of Massachusetts, just where it meets Rhode Island. The light is different when you're by the sea. My mother always called the color of the sky at dawn "sky blue pink", an accurate description if I've ever heard one. It's a glowing blend of pale blue, violet, aqua, pink, and salmon. Egrets are symbolic of purity, strength, and longevity. Because they enjoy solitude, their spirit also represents freedom and independence.

Oil on wood panel. 24" x 24". SOLD

Swan Song of the Pink Moon

Swan Song of the Pink Moon is the first painting in a new series. Everything is in movement. The dots and stripes of her costume flow as the woman falls in step with the swan. The bird's mate soars overhead, silhouetted against the pink moon. Far away, more birds fill the sky. The pink moon represents optimism for the future, rebirth, and a deep internal focus on every level.  24" x 24", oil on wood panel. $8,500.
