My subjects have often been women. Recently I began to create images of young girls coming of age.  We look deeply into these faces and bodies full of secrecy, vulnerability and defiance, and revisit our own memories filtered through the lens of adolescence. This series occupies a cerebral, mythic landscape, full of reality and dreams. Within these girls and women lies the power to achieve their dreams. The introspective girls and women in my paintings make us ask, “What are they thinking?” Their placement in such lush, enigmatic settings questions, “Why are we here?”
